How We Create a MathOnline Lesson

Our Goal With Every Lesson is Simple

Teach a Concept Twice as Well…

in Only Half the Time!

Hear from expert math teacher and MathOnline co-founder Pat Murray as he shares his winning formula to an effective math lesson with you.

Each video lesson goes for about 5 or 6 minutes — a bit shorter for elementary students, a little longer for high schoolers. And is carefully crafted to best communicate even the most complex of math concepts in the simplest, most engaging way possible.

Here’s the Steps We Go Through to Bring a MathOnline Lesson to Life

1

Decide What to Teach

The first step is to decide how many ideas we want to cover, and what examples are best used to teach your child. Then, we draft up the questions, examples, diagrams and
worked solutions.

Drawing from 33+ years of experience teaching math, we aim to craft every question clearly, simply and concisely!

2

Record The First Draft of The Lesson

Next, Pat records himself teaching the examples live, using the simplest and most effective ways he knows how to teach.

Committed to providing the most engaging lessons for your child, Pat will then review this first draft and the examples he’s used to make sure he’s as clear, succinct, and fast as (humanly!) possible.

3

Add Visuals to Bring the Lesson to Life

From diagrams, to drawings, to simple animations — we are super intentional to add the exact right number of visuals needed to maximize understanding of the examples and ensure engagement.

4

The Cutting Floor

The next step is we ask ourselves: is there any way we can make this lesson even clearer and simpler? We look to remove any repetitive or potentially distracting information.

We know a child’s attention span is limited. And we don’t want to waste a minute of it.

5

Creating the Final Lesson

When we are satisfied with the examples and editing, we meticulously create the actual lesson step-by-step. Our methods are unique and have been developed over the last two decades.

Once we’ve got all the visuals right, next we add the voice. With 300+ transitions in a 5-minute lesson, perfectly syncing them with the natural voice-over was a daunting task that took us years to perfect.

Tailored for Triumph

We've Mastered These 5 Steps to Set Your Child on the Road to Excellence!

And unlike the ordinary video lessons that other companies produce, your child will feel the MathOnline difference…

Why? Because it was created with them in mind!

We’re not teaching in front of a large classroom or to tens of thousands of students worldwide.

Instead, we have spent countless hours crafting and refining this one lesson to make it feel like we’re right beside your child, helping them out and cheering them on to succeed… because we are.

Hear Why These Parents & Students Love MathOnline’s Lessons

Confidence and Clarity at Home

“What I also really appreciate is how independent my kids have become with their learning. They know exactly where to go, what lesson to watch, and how to check their own progress. It’s taken a lot of pressure off me as a parent, but I still feel completely in the loop thanks to the progress reports.

MathOnline has made maths less stressful in our home. The kids are more confident, they’re not afraid to make mistakes, and they’re even starting to enjoy the subject. Which I never thought I’d say!”

The Kids are Really Engaged Now

“I would like to let you know that your program is absolutely fantastic.

My kids love it, my daughter actually say she loves maths now because whenever a new topic is being taught in the class room she understands it a lot better and that is because of your easy to understand short video lessons you provide at the beginning of every lesson.

Thank you for saving me time, money and anxiety.”

Math That Actually Sticks

“As time has gone on, I’ve noticed that the concepts are really sinking in. It’s not just about getting through lessons. It’s about truly understanding them. My son now explains maths problems back to me, which never used to happen.

My daughter also feels more in control. Instead of dreading maths, she approaches it with calm and confidence. MathOnline hasn’t just improved their grades. It has completely changed their mindset toward learning.”
